FROM THE GROUND UP is a film making workshop with a mixture of theoretical teaching and practical experience.

Before the workshop begins, students elect to focus on one element of film making and are split into two groups:

ACTORS
and the
PRODUCTION TEAM.

On the first day, students will focus on their individual craft and developing their skills. Students will identify what they are learning by watching scenes from current and classic films, using their knowledge in the preparation and rehearsal of a scene.

On the second day, the students will come together and apply what they’ve learnt in a practical environment. Each student will play a vital role in filming and producing several scenes from a variety of popular films and television shows.

After the actual shoot, the students will edit their scene together on a laptop we provide. All of the students will get the chance to watch their scenes back and we will discuss what has worked and what hasn’t.

Throughout production, the students will fullfill the following roles :

Writer, Script Editor, Actors & Extras,
Director, Production Manager, Camera Operator,
Sound Operator, Continuity, Props Master and Editor.

This is an invaluable opportunity for students to practically apply film making principles, with the help of a company experienced in producing successful drama.
